What
is an Integrated Reception System?
A
full IRS system in its basic configuration can provide to each TV Outlets :
digital satellite TV, Sky Plus facilities or Freesat DTR, High Definition TV,
Digital Terrestrial (Freeview) FM and digital radio and the existing analogue
services while they are still operational.
IRS
with an extended configuration can provide ethnic services such as Turkish TV,
European TV and radio from one antenna location.
By
installing an IRS, individual Outlets have the choice of subscribing to Pay TV
services such as Sky TV, Freesat with some 80 channels which are free to view,
Freeview which is the free terrestrial service, or do nothing and continue to
use the analogue terrestrial broadcasts until they are switched off.
Sky
Plus is now standard for all IRS networks. This enables a standard Sky box, Sky
Plus or High Definition box to be connected to the system and have the facility
to download or record programmes to the internal Sky Plus hard disk.

The
advantages of having an IRS system is that its means there's no need for more
cabling around your home and holes being drilled when or if you wish to move
your TV equipment such as Sky, Freesat, Freeview receivers or audio/radio
equipments. At each outlet plate there is 2 satellite connections for satellite
PVR recorders such as SKY+, SKY+HD and TV Aerial , radio connections . This type
of system is strongly recommended if you are having a refurbishment, as all
cabling can be done internally so that you will not need to see any external
cables. People often just have just an aerial system wired into the home but if
you or a tenant wishes to have sky TV or Freesat then a sky engineer will have
to drill holes and run external cables around the building which spoils the
appearance of the building inside and out. These systems were originally
designed and installed for communal properties only but with time these have
become cheaper to install and are now a good option for domestic multi-points.
This system can also improve the valuation of the property. |
